NBS IT Recruitment is turning 4 this month!
Spring 2021 feels like a distant memory now—back when the world was bouncing back post-COVID.
At the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, there’s a section called 4YFN: Four Years From Now, all about innovation and startups.
In our case, it’s more like 4YA: Four Years Ago—a time to look back and take stock of everything that’s happened since we kicked things off.
The first thought that comes to mind—pretty much since day one—is: Why didn’t we do this sooner?
Starting a business is always risky, and yeah, we’d be lying if we said it didn’t feel scary at first. You know the drill: people telling you to play it safe, how tough it is to start something in this country, and the classic “what if it doesn’t work out?” All well-meaning advice from people who care.
But honestly, it didn’t take long to realize we’d made the right call.
NBS didn’t start out as a “company” in the traditional sense. It was more of a self-employment project—built as a co-op of senior IT recruiters working as equals. In the end, red tape pushed us to go with a limited company model, but the co-op spirit stayed intact.
The recruitment world is super hierarchical. We wanted nothing to do with that. Liberté, égalité, fraternité, you know?
Even our name says it loud and clear: NBS – No BS.
In an industry overflowing with BS and nonsense, just keeping it real sets us apart. No smoke and mirrors. No overselling to clients or candidates. We believe there’s always a right fit out there. Our goal? Make things better for both sides. Period.
We’re brutally honest—and yeah, that sometimes means we lose opportunities. But it’s non-negotiable.
We’re not here to be just another consultancy. Technically, we fall into the “boutique firm” category, though we’re not crazy about the label.
You can either go for volume or for quality. We choose quality—every time.
We take our time to listen, understand, and then act. Not the other way around.
We see ourselves as ambassadors for your brand—and THAT matters. Whether you’re a company looking for talent or a professional chasing your next move, it’s a big deal.
Four years in, the reviews speak for themselves.
Things have changed a lot over the past few years. We’re definitely in leaner times now. Whether it’s due to economic uncertainty or the AI boom, companies aren’t hiring like they used to. Quite the opposite—layoffs are the new normal.
But that’s the nature of our industry. It’s always been a wild ride.
Today we’re talking about slowdowns, but six months from now we could be swamped with work. That’s not wishful thinking—we’ve seen it before, and we’ll see it again.
The dot-com bubble burst. The subprime mortgage crash. Pandemics. Wars. Nothing new under the sun.
That’s why having a long-term mindset matters so much.
It’s easy enough to fool a client or a candidate once—but that kind of shortcut doesn’t last. The market’s not that big. People talk. Your reputation is everything—especially when the going gets tough.
There will always be hiring needs. And when people are happy, they come back.
We do a lot to bring in new clients, but most of our business comes from long-time partners—or new ones referred by happy customers.
We’re excited about the future and all the changes it brings. But we’re also not losing our heads. The key to success is still the same: trust, reliability, and problem-solving.
The tools will change—of course they will.
But what really matters stays the same.
So in 4YFN, we don’t know exactly where we’ll be—but we know we’ll still be doing things our way. Because, honestly, we love what we do. A lot of people are in this game for the money—and yeah, if you’re good, it pays well. And that’s valid. We all like getting paid.
But if that were our only motivation, we wouldn’t still be here.
This job is tough. It burns you out if you don’t know how to handle it. It’s a constant rollercoaster. Every process starts from scratch.
But we love the challenge—figuring out what a company needs, finding it, and making it happen.
We love the feeling of helping someone level up their career.
And it’s truly meaningful when someone calls us months—or even years—later just to say thanks.
When that person you placed has grown and created real change. That hits different.
And if it doesn’t hit you? Maybe you’re in the wrong business.
We hope we’re still around in another 4 years—and that, if you aren’t already, you’ll be part of our journey.
Are you in?
They say once you try us, there’s no going back… 😉
